HISTORY

The Scunthorpe Motor Cycle Club is possibly one of the longest established sporting organisations in the area. Having been formed in 1923, the club was ran up until 1927 and then reformed into its present state in 1929. We still have the majority of the original silver trophies from 1923 and the club meeting minute books form that time until now! The club is affiliated with the East Midlands Centre of the Auto Cycle Union, with the motto being 'sport and fellowship' as our badge shows.

Club meetings are held at the Cole Street Club. Anyone can come along and get involved. To find out when the next meeting is, keep an eye on the Events section of the website, or by clicking here.

MEMBERSHIP

From 2019 we have done away with having to purchase membership and rolled this fee into the trial entry price (which is £20 for Adults, and £15 for Youth). Hence, once you have ridden a trial, you are automatically a member for that year.

We are proud to say that our current membership stands at around 100, with competitor's ages ranging from 4 to 70+ years old!! The lasting success of SMCC is due to the long-term involvement and dedication of past and present officials and the well-known camaraderie and friendship amongst the motorcycle fraternity. May it continue!

ATTENDING A TRIAL

If you like the idea of learning about trials in the Scunthorpe and surrounding area, then come along and watch at our next event, everyone is welcome whether you ride or not. A list of this year's events can be found HERE.

Up and-coming events can be found on our home page, or on our Facebook page @ScunMCCTrials

The minimum rider age is 4 years old.

Spectators can watch for free, just ensure the main routes ridden by the bikes are clear when bikes approach.

All riders are required to have an ACU licence which can be applied for/purchased (£20) via the ACU website. To do this you will require an ACU affiliation code which can be obtained by contacting us as above.

However, there is no need to do this before your first event if you'd just like to have a go you can turn up and be issued with a day licence (£5) and decide after if you'd like to purchase an annual licence before your next trial.

If you require a ‘buddy’ rider (an experienced trials bike rider) to show you round, please mention this when handing the forms in.

More details about the ACU can be found HERE.
