SMCC has two life members Jackie Bateman and Alan Hunt.
Jackie was sports sec. for 37years from 1973 to 2010. Married to Brian an ex trials rider and sister in law to The legendary Roy Bateman. Jackie was ultra efficient and reliable, obtaining permits, taking entries, doing the results in fact doing all the paper work and keeping all the records up to date. A Winteringham resident most of her life she was also chairman of the parish council and a keen WI member, sadly her health is not what it was but she still keeps an interest in the club. UPDATE - Unfortunately we have to report that Jackie sadly died in August 2017, the whole club mourns the loss of her and wishes her family all the best.
Alan Hunt has been a member since 1952 and club chairman for about 35 years and is now president. He served on the ACU Youth committee of the ACU representing the East Midlands Centre, and also served as a steward at events. He also rode in 50 consecutive Boxing Day trials, and 20 Manx Two Day trials as well!
